Beautiful California

The bay area is full of beautiful views. Check out this one we found after hiking for an hour or so this past weekend on Windy Hill.

It's that time of year again

It has been quite a while since we last logged in for a new post. Chalk that up to moving to a new town, getting new jobs, starting school, and frankly just getting settled. We are sorry about the slacking, but it shall end now...

---------------------------------

Recently, I spent time in Montana for Thanksgiving, keeping up a tradition that has been going on for some years now. I get to spend time with Mike and his family eating turkey and exploring the sloughs of Dillon looking for ducks. This year we also found some pheasant.

Montana is a beautiful state. We snapped a few more great photos this year...

The Desert

This past week Kamie and I spent some time visiting a few of the national parks in southern Utah. First was Zion, where we hiked the Narrows (imagine a river running through a slot canyon with 1000 ft. walls).

Random shot from Zion.

Next, we went to Bryce Canyon where we enjoyed some of the cleanest air in the U.S.

Visibility was ~150 miles.

Bryce is also famous for its "hoodoos".

After Bryce came the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument where we did an overnight trip into the wilderness. This 20 mile hike included hiking on rolling rock,

through rivers,

and through a desert.

Oh yeah, we also got engaged here.

The last place we stopped was Capitol Reef, which is a 100 mile fold in the earth's crust.

Our next trip is up north. Check back soon for pictures from there.

Ol' Kentucky

This past weekend we spent some time in Kentucky enjoying the scenery and some horse racing. Mike was able to get everyone tickets to the 132nd Kentucky Derby, and he also ensured we had plenty to do afterwards. We spent most of the day at the races. We spent most of the night enjoying the Derby festivities. Friday night, we attended a party at Allison & Tom O'Grady's place and on Saturday night we were at the Pendennis Club. Sunday was relaxing, with only a breakfast at a crazy circus on our schedule.

Placing bets at the Oaks (Steele, Mike).

Nice lid.

Post races festivities.
